As lead UI/UX designer and lead frontend developer on this project I worked hands on through all phases of the agile development process. From conceptualization, rapid prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, key feature prototypes, and final release.
Featuring a custom multiselect component created specifically based on our customer's needs. Designed to allow complex hierarchy, typeahead search, auto rollup when all children of a parent node are selected, as well as ensuring full 508 accessibility compliance.

Launched in 2017, this project was designed collaboratively with our clients to help make sense of their data. We worked iteratively to analyze the data and construct the best visualizations to represent this complex data set.
Our goal was to not only offer visualizations to aid in understanding of the data, but to create an interactive experience, where users could dynamically explore and move through the data. To discover patterns and facets within the data that were not obvious before.
This dashboard pioneered technologies used in later data applications that we created, such as drag and drop widgets, adding and removing widgets, page level and widget level filters.

Launched in 2020, this new project was part of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases’ (NIAID) initiative to further vaccine adjuvant research in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. My team worked in collaboration with stakeholders at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to design and develop this public-facing database to be modern and intuitive. The system allows researchers to easily update and add new data based on their research.

The NIH Data Book was an existing site which was previously maintained through a cumbersome manual process.
Initial pain points identified:
The previous version of this site required manual data loading each year and overwrote the previous years data in the database. I spearheaded the effort to convert the data process to an automated script, which would generated JSON files for each report. I structured the system such that we could easily preserve and add new years of data moving forward.
I worked with the team to standardize the reports into a few consisted types that we could reuse in order to streamline the development as well as create a more consistent user experience. As well as creating new interactive charts which enable users to explore the data in new ways.

Built in 2016, this experiment was coded almost entirely on an iPad; testing the limits of development and performance capabilities of the device.
The game is designed to work on both mobile and desktop. Leveraging the HTML5 Canvas API. Includes a built in level editor to allow visual editing, which outputs JSON level data.
I am passionate about finding creative solutions to problems. Whether coding or designing, I enjoy the challenges of working across different technologies and mediums to create engaging user experiences.
My background is in illustration and visual design, I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications. I have always enjoyed art, animation, and working with computers. I find front-end development to be the perfect intersection of these interests.
Bringing a design to life is a very rewarding process for me. I love obsessing over all the little details, fine-tuning animations, and sizing everything to look just right on different screen sizes and devices.
I grew up watching a lot of sci-fi and was always inspired by the futuristic computer interfaces I saw. This has greatly influenced my work, and I strive to capture that magical feeling of a great interface that just works.
